The Course

Paddy Bird is one of television's most prolific and accomplished editors. For the past fifteen years he has edited dozens of prime time documentary, entertainment and reality TV shows for British and American television. He has even worked in war zones, spending time editing news stories on location in Iraq.

Paddy has worked on multiple seasons of many of the world's most renowned format shows including X Factor, Big Brother, Wife Swap and Secret Millionaire while at the same time editing numerous high-end political, historical and observational documentaries.

Inside The Edit is 100% online so as long as you have a reliable internet connection you can take the course from anywhere in the world.

This is very much dependent on how much time you spend practising the many concepts and techniques that are taught in The Creative Editing Course. We also highly recommend that you take your time as learning any artistic craft is not something that can be rushed. How long you stay with the course is up to you but we release a new tutorial every week that explores the complexities of narrative editing and builds on the concepts already learnt. The longer you stay, the more you will learn.

It its widely accepted that editors make the best directors and producers. Someone approaching a production with a background in editing instinctively understands what shots they need to achieve and the best way to get them. Working as an editor provides you with a unique perspective into what works once you get into the cutting room, which is an invaluable skill in production.

Of course, when learning anything, the more you put in, the more you will get out. If you practice cutting as well as watching the tutorials not only will you feel your confidence as an editor growing but you'll also have a showreel to present to prospective employers.

It is impossible to put together a showreel without access to broadcast standard rushes. This course finally enables people to show their skills by giving them that access. Lastly The Creative Editing Course gives you real hands on experience of a large documentary production. The course emulates exactly what happens out there in the pro world, so when you do get offered a job in television you will feel completely prepared.

Not only does The Creative Editing Course teach you how to cut a high end broadcast documentary it is also taught by a highly sought after and respected editor.

A basic understanding of non linear editing is essential. If you can ingest footage, mark clips, edit them onto the timeline and trim, you're ready.
